My Very First Oil Painting

The oil painting below is my absolute first. The idea for the composition was borrowed from a Rembrandt painting. There was a good reason for beginning with such a challenging piece. First, I enjoy a good challenge, and second, I spent many long hours in the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square while living in London. The Rembrandt room left an indelible impression. The inspiration was a good one to begin painting.

John Rocheleau's first oil painting. A variation on a Rembrandt painting.
