Landscape painting in the Okanagan Valley is what it is all about for most artists who live in or near Kelowna. The beauty overwhelms you and you just have to get it down via oil paintings, acrylic paintings, or drawings, using whatever style the artist gravitates to. John's style is impressionistic and direct. Most paintings are done alla prima. Kelowna artists are abundant and varied in numbers and style.

Some Okanagan artists would rather paint in the Rockies, but John loves the expansive and dry beauty of the Okanagan, with it's fantastic lakes, forests, and high grassy areas.
